General
All animals seen at E & K Physio will be in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeon’s Act 1966 and Exemptions Order 2015. Consent must be gained from your veterinarian prior to receiving physiotherapy input, and as such, all input may be discussed with your veterinarian as required, with the potential to refer back to your veterinarian for further investigation or input if required.
Musculoskeletal maintenance treatment for a healthy animal, for instance an agility dog does not require consent by a veterinary surgeon. However, the animal must be registered with a veterinary surgeon. Maintenance should cease and the owner of the animal will be advised to take their animal to a veterinary surgeon for clinical examination at the first sign of any underlying injury, disease, or pathology. Alternatively, E & K Physio may disclose any concerns to the veterinary surgeon.
Clients must inform the physiotherapist of any known infectious diseases, so that appropriate measures can be taken to avoid transmission.
E & K Physio reserves the right to refuse treatment if it is deemed to be unsuitable, inappropriate, or unsafe.
Humans can self-refer without consent from GP/doctor. A consent form will be completed by the patient themselves at the time of the initial assessment
E & K Physio confirms to hold professional and public indemnity insurance in respect of your/your animal's treatment.
E & K Physio confirms to be regulated by the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT), Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP).
Cancellation policy
Cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment will be charged at 50% of the price.
Cancellations made on the day of appointment will be subject to the full appointment cost.
Payment
Payment is required on the day of the appointment, at the end of the session by card, cash, or direct bank transfer, prior to the physiotherapist leaving the client’s location.
Payment must be made by the owner where input might form part of an insurance claim, it is the owner’s responsibility to seek reimbursement from their insurance company as required. It is owner’s responsibility to check with insurers beforehand that a claim will be expected.
E & K Physio will provide a receipt after each session for your records, and to support any insurance claims.
In the event of any difficulties paying an outstanding invoice amount, please contact E & K Physio to discuss. Any unpaid accounts will be subject to escalation such as debt collection or civil proceedings.
Privacy
All client and animal details are strictly bound by client confidentiality law within the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the Data Protection Act 1998.
E & K Physio complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in securely storing your personal details and any written patient notes, images, or videos.
Pictures and videos may be taken during the session to monitor progression and for social media use. This statement will be included in the consent form emailed prior to the initial assessment. Please ensure you inform E & K Physio if you do not consent to any images or videos being taken.
E & K Physio has the right to discuss the animal’s case with the referring veterinary surgeon as required, with the potential to refer for further investigation or input.
With humans E & K Physio can discuss any concerns with your GP, upon discussion with yourself regarding the need for this.
